It is often said that the strength of a community is measured by how it honors its history and how it invests in its future. This September, Montgomery County did both with the grand opening of the Kevin Brady Library in the Grogan’s Mill Village Center.
As your County Judge, I was proud to stand alongside community leaders, families, and neighbors to cut the ribbon on this magnificent facility. This isn’t just a building with books; it is a testament to the conservative principles of education, fiscal responsibility, and servant leadership that define our county.
A Tribute to Conservative Leadership
It is fitting that this center of learning bears the name of Congressman Kevin Brady. For over two decades, Kevin represented our values in Washington with unwavering courage. A champion of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a steadfast defender of the unborn, and a voice for limited government, Kevin Brady never forgot where he came from.
By naming this library in his honor, we are reminding the next generation that public service is a noble calling. We are planting a flag that says Montgomery County honors those who fight for faith, family, and freedom.
Fiscally Responsible Innovation
One of the aspects of this project I am most proud of is how it came to be. This state-of-the-art facility was not built by burdening taxpayers with unnecessary new construction costs. Instead, through a smart public-private partnership with Howard Hughes Holdings and careful county planning, we repurposed a former grocery store site.
We took an empty building and transformed it into a vibrant community asset. This is conservative governance in action: being good stewards of your tax dollars while improving the quality of life for our residents.
A Safe Haven for Families and Faith
In a culture that is increasingly hostile to traditional values, our libraries must remain safe, welcoming spaces for families. The new Kevin Brady Library was designed with this in mind.
- Family-First Spaces: The children’s area features beautiful, nature-inspired designs that reflect God’s creation in The Woodlands, offering a wholesome environment for our kids to read and learn.
- Community Connection: With new meeting rooms and the “Innovate@MCMLS” creative spaces, this library will serve as a hub for homeschool groups, Bible studies, and civic organizations to gather and grow together.
- Empowering the Next Generation: The new podcast studio and innovation center give our young people the tools to become the creators and leaders of tomorrow – leaders who we pray will continue to uphold the values we cherish.
Judge Keough’s Message to the Community
I have always believed that “Leaders are Readers.” To keep Montgomery County strong, we must be a community that values knowledge, history, and truth. I encourage every family in The Woodlands and beyond to visit this new facility. Take your children, check out a book, and while you are there, tell them the story of the man on the sign – a man who went to Washington and stayed true to Texas.
Congratulations to everyone involved in making this vision a reality.
God Bless You, and God Bless Montgomery County.
