In Montgomery County, we are experiencing unprecedented growth. Families and businesses are flocking here for our low taxes, safe neighborhoods, and conservative values. But with that growth comes a challenge we all see every day: Traffic.
For too long, transportation planning has been fragmented or reactive. I believe the taxpayers of this county deserve better. You deserve a government that looks 20 years down the road, not just to the next election cycle.
That is why I am proud to announce a historic achievement for our community: The launch of the first-ever Montgomery County Mobility Plan.
A Long Road to Victory
This initiative began in December 2024, when my office made a formal request to the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) Metropolitan Planning Organization. We made the case that Montgomery County needed a comprehensive, data-driven master plan to guide our future infrastructure investments.
We didn’t take “no” for an answer. Through over a year of perseverance and negotiation, we pushed this priority to the front of the line.
On January 6, 2026, that persistence paid off. H-GAC officially signed the final contract with the renowned engineering firm Freese and Nichols to begin this landmark study.
The Conservative Win: Protecting Your Wallet
Here is the best part for the fiscal conservative: We secured nearly $1 million in funding to cover this entire study.
Instead of asking local property taxpayers to foot the bill, we successfully tapped into Federal Highway Administration planning funds.
- Cost to Local Property Taxpayers: $0
- Value to the Community: Priceless
This is how government should work. We are bringing your federal tax dollars back to Montgomery County to solve local problems, ensuring that we get the world-class planning we need without adding a single penny to your county tax bill.
What Comes Next?
Over the next 12 to 18 months, the team at Freese and Nichols along with project managers from Montgomery County and H-GAC will be conducting a deep-dive analysis of our entire transportation network. But they won’t be doing it alone in a back room.
We want YOU to have a seat at the table.
This process will include a series of community meetings across every precinct in Montgomery County. We don’t want a plan written by bureaucrats; we want a plan that reflects the real-world needs of the people who drive these roads every day.
- Where are the bottlenecks?
- Which intersections are dangerous?
- How can we improve commute times for our workforce?
A Vision for the Future
This Mobility Plan will be the “North Star” for future Commissioners Courts. It will ensure that when we build roads, we build the right roads – reducing congestion, improving safety, and keeping our economy moving.
We are done with the days of patchwork fixes. We are building a legacy of connectivity and prosperity for our children and grandchildren.
