Drive through Montgomery County today, and you will see something that stands in stark contrast to the rest of the nation: Optimism.
New businesses are opening their doors. Cranes are in the sky. Families are moving here in record numbers. While other regions struggle with stagnation and urban decay, Montgomery County has become the economic engine of the Texas Gulf Coast.
This success isn’t an accident. It isn’t just luck. It is the direct result of strong, conservative leadership that understands a fundamental truth: The government doesn’t create prosperity. Freedom does.
The Moment That Changed Everything
To understand why our economy is booming today, you have to look back to the darkest days of 2020.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, politicians across the country – and even right next door in Harris County – panicked. They embraced fear. They shut down churches, boarded up small businesses, and told citizens that they were “non-essential.”
I took a different path.
As your County Judge, I made the decision to keep Montgomery County OPEN. I refused to enforce unconstitutional mandates that would have crushed our local economy. I trusted you – the business owner, the pastor, the parent – to make the right decisions for your own safety.
That decision was the spark that ignited our current economic boom.
- We Saved Small Businesses: While businesses elsewhere shuttered forever, ours survived.
- We Attracted New Investment: Companies watching from the sidelines saw that Montgomery County was a safe harbor for free enterprise. They moved here, bringing jobs and wealth with them.
- We Built Loyalty: Residents shopped local like never before, creating a resilient economy that relies on the strength of our neighbors.
The County Judge as “CEO”
Economic development requires more than just a friendly smile; it requires a CEO mindset. The County Judge sets the tone for the entire region. If the leadership is weak, unstable, or prone to over-regulation, capital flees.
My administration has sent a clear signal to the market: Montgomery County is stable, conservative, and ready to work.
We have fostered an environment where:
- Taxes are Low: By strictly managing the budget, we have lowered the county tax rate by nearly 20%.
- Infrastructure is a Priority: We aren’t just waiting for traffic to get bad; we are building the roads and mobility projects needed to move goods and people efficiently.
- Red Tape is Cut: We work with developers and entrepreneurs, not against them. We believe that if you want to build something that creates jobs, the government should get out of your way.
The “Freedom Dividend”: How Growth Lowers Your Taxes
The results of this “Freedom First” economic strategy are undeniable. But the best part isn’t just the new buildings – it’s what they mean for your wallet.
Because we stayed open and attracted massive commercial investment, we have broadened our tax base. When new businesses move here, they pay property taxes, which shoulders a huge portion of the county’s financial burden.
This commercial growth allows us to fund law enforcement and essential services while lowering the tax rate for homeowners.
We cannot afford to hand the keys of this economic engine to leaders who believe in the “government knows best” philosophy. We cannot afford leaders who will bow to federal pressure or fold when the media criticizes them.
Conservative leadership works. It puts food on the table, it keeps the lights on, and it creates a future where our children can find high-paying jobs right here at home.
Let’s keep the momentum going. Let’s keep building. Let’s keep Montgomery County the freest, most prosperous county in Texas.
